prof. Paulina Pospieszna

Professor Paulina Pospieszna participated in the prestigious American Political Science Association (APSA) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia from September 5-8, 2024, where she presented two significant research papers.

The first paper, Integrating Citizen Climate Deliberations for Impact: A New Analysis Framework, introduces a new framework for assessing the impact of citizens' assemblies on climate governance across Europe. This research is part of an exciting new project i4i funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) under the Weave Unisono grant, in collaboration with researchers from Germany and Belgium. The paper was presented during the panel Reimagining Climate Governance: Are Climate Assemblies Reshaping Climate Policy?.

The second paper, Deliberation in Fragile Democracies: Citizens' Assemblies in Georgia, explores the role of citizens' assemblies in fostering civic engagement and democratic socialization in Georgia. This work, co-authored with Tsveta Petrova (Columbia University, USA) and Nanuli Silagadze (Åbo Akademi University, Finland), examines the outcomes of deliberative processes in a society with weak democratic traditions. The paper was part of the panel Divided Times: Deliberative Democracy in Post-Conflict & Polarized Societies.
