Between the 6th and 17th of October 2025, Magni Szymaniak-Arnesen visited the research team led by Prof. Vincent Jacquet, which is implementing the ERC Starting Grant CITIZEN_IMPACT at the University of Namur (Belgium).
On the 7th of October, Magni Szymaniak-Arnesen presented their doctoral research during a monthly seminar of the Transitions Research Institute to an audience of researchers working on democratic innovations and other fields within political science. The presentation was followed by a session of questions and discussion with the audience, and continued during the common lunch break accompanying the seminar.
The numerous meetings with experts from Université de Namur, UC Louvain, and Université Libre de Bruxelles, along with the feedback received, helped them refine the theoretical and analytical framework for analyzing the policy impacts of the selected CA cases in their doctoral research. These meetings also contributed to building and strengthening collaborations. Other sessions focused on the host team's research regarding the policy impacts of citizens’ assemblies and their effects on political debate. The research visit enabled Magni Szymaniak-Arnesen and the CITIZEN_IMPACT team to share knowledge about the local political contexts and citizens’ assemblies in Belgium and Poland, further strengthening the collaboration between Prof. Jacquet’s team and the Democratic Innovations research group.
The ID-UB Project financed the stay within the framework of call 189, “Internationalisation of the Individual Research Plans”.
