On 27–28 October 2025, Prof. Paulina Pospieszna took part in the international workshop “From Knowledge to Impact: Democratic Innovation Between Research, Practice, and Policy” hosted by the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory (IFDT) in Belgrade. The opening session featured the Ambassador of Ireland to Serbia and the Director of IFDT, followed by a keynote lecture delivered by Art O’Leary, Chief Executive of the Electoral Commission of Ireland and a leading figure behind Ireland’s constitutional conventions and citizens’ assemblies. The workshop was organized within the Horizon Europe Nets4Dem project, dedicated to strengthening democratic resilience by bridging academic knowledge, practitioner experience and policymaking across Europe. Discussions focused on innovative citizen participation mechanisms and the practical challenges of integrating democratic innovation into governance systems.

Prof. Pospieszna contributed to Session 2: Evidence-Based Democratic Innovation with a presentation on the citizens’ assemblies in Poland based on the findings of the article co-authored with Dr. Marta Hoffmann “Institutionalizing Democratic Innovations in Poland: Mapping the Evolution of Citizens’ Assemblies Through Rules of Procedure” 2025.
