Public Governance – Undergraduate Programme
Do you dream of a career in public institutions at a managerial or executive position in the public sector? If so – join us and choose this unique course! You will gain knowledge, skills and the necessary competencies to perform professional duties in government administration, local government and other public and social institutions. During the three years of education, you will learn elements of country, political, public administration and management science, as well as a basic knowledge of law and economics.
With the combination of selected subjects from several areas of study, you will receive a profiled education to undertake work in the public sector of the modern state, as well as private institutions cooperating with the sector.
Duration: 6 semesters (full-time and part-time).
Studies in Polish.
Tuition fee: 1,500 PLN per semester (part-time).

Management of the state is a unique practical theme of the course. It combines learning during regular classes with work placement experience. This is how we combine theory and practice! This is the education you need to become a professional in the broad public sector, as well as in private institutions cooperating with the public sector. The extensive knowledge and soft competences acquired during your studies will allow you to succeed in the labour market.
After graduating Public Governance, you will be able to start work in public institutions, ministries and central offices, provincial offices, local government units, associations, foundations and European institutions.
Public Governance is a completely new major in Poland, offered for the first time by our Faculty. This course gives a unique opportunity to gain knowledge from the best specialists in the field of public sector management. The extensive system of acquiring practical skills in public institutions is brand new, therefore, you will already gain work experience whilst studying!
Public Administration
Skills in administration is a valuable asset which will help you find work in governmental and non-governmental organisations. By choosing this specialisation, you will get to know the local government system in detail, the rules of labour law, understand the ins and outs of public procurement and crisis management. There are also plenty of subjects such as strategic planning for local and regional development, local marketing and finally, savoir vivre in public administration and negotiation techniques. This specialisation will give you the opportunity to gain a complete range of valuable knowledge and the skills necessary to work at all levels in the institutions of state and local government. If after graduation, you want to find a job in public administration, which is one of the largest employers in Poland, you should choose this specialisation.
Project and EU Funds Management
The continual development of the European Union and the expanding scope of its activities provide a great opening for you to take advantage of the many opportunities available due to European cooperation. Poland is still heavily subsidised, without which, it is difficult to imagine the dynamic development of our country today. On the employment market, there is a huge demand for specialists in the field of European funds, well-versed in the subject of sourcing, implementation and settlement of projects financed from EU funds. That’s why this specialisation was created for people like you, to allow you to gain a full knowledge of the legal aspects and will help understand the reality of the EU. We will present a comprehensive control and monitoring of issues in EU projects, with a large emphasis on Project Design. If you would like to work in the implementation of projects financed from European funds after completing your education, both public and private, you should choose this course.
Image Management in Public Institutions NEW!
Studying Image Management in Public Institutions guarantees the acquisition of detailed and professional knowledge and skills. These skills can be used, not only in the public sector, but also in the widely understood business and social environment. You will learn what it is like to access public information, information management in the media, the ins and outs of good and effective communication, as well as get a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of effective negotiations. In the class schedule, workshops are included to prepare students for the roles of a spokesperson or a specialist in public relations. If you would like to have an interesting, exciting and demanding job – choose this course!
Application procedure:
- option available to candidates with Polish citizenship – standard recruitment procedure via Online Application System
- option available to candidates who are eligible to study under the regime applicable to Polish citizens
- option available to candidates who are not eligible to study under the regime applied to Polish citizens
Candidates eligible to apply under this procedure must submit recruitment documents as stipulated in the AMU Senate Resolution on the application procedure – first year full time and extra mural studies and register at System Internetowej Rekrutacji by the deadlines stipulated in the recruitment time table for a given academic year and also pay the admission fee. Results of final examinations taken and passed abroad and expressed in the grading scale used by the foreign educational institution are converted proportionally to the grading scale applied in Poland at the new final examination (matura) and in compliance with the admission criteria of a given faculty.
NOTE:
- Foreign candidates can apply to study any courses offered at bachelor and master degree programmes on condition that they have a command of Polish (the language of instruction). Candidates who do not have the command of Polish can enrol in a year-long intensive Polish language course (http://www.schoolpl.amu.edu.pl/go.php/en.html)
- Studies in English under the regime applicable to Polish citizens are possible on condition that the candidates register at System Internetowej Rekrutacji, where a selection can be made from a list of available options (https://kandydaci.amu.edu.pl/Site/UtworzKonto/Oczekiwanie)
- Studies in a foreign language
- Foreigners wishing to take up a different course in a foreign language must take the option available to candidates who are not eligible to study under the regime applied to Polish citizens
- Full-time study is tuition free. If foreign students take part in other forms of study, which are not tuition free, e.g. extra-mural studies, post-diploma studies, courses taught in foreign languages, they pay fees in the same amount as those paid by citizens of the Republic of Poland
Holders of valid Polish Citizen Cards and citizens of member states of the EU, EFTA-EEC and Switzerland, who have decided to study in Poland, are free to choose the application procedure.
B. Application criteria – option available to candidates who are not eligible to study under the regime applied to Polish citizens you can choose this option if you are:
- a holder of scholarships granted by Poland
Candidates for scholarships granted by Poland are nominated, as stipulated in international agreements, by Polish or foreign diplomatic missions or respective institutions in their countries responsible for international academic exchange. Candidates of Polish origin applying for scholarship granted by Poland report to a consular office in their place of residence. - a holder of a scholarship granted by the sending party; tuition free studies
- not eligible for scholarship and want to pursue tuition free studies
Option available to foreigners of countries with which Poland signed inter-government agreements or aid programme agreements. Candidates apply through relevant institutions of their countries or Polish diplomatic or consular offices. Foreigners pay the tuition but receive no scholarship from the Polish government. They pay all the costs related to their study in Poland, which amount to more than 300 euro a month. - if you want to pursue tuition paid studies
The admission decision is made by the end of July by the Deputy President for Student Affairs upon the examination of the submitted documents and when a recruitment fee of 50 euro has been paid by the candidate.
Tuition fees depend on the degree programme followed and range from 2500 to 4000 euro per year. Foreigners of Polish origin commencing studies taught in Polish are granted a 30% discount.
Students taking courses taught in English or other languages pay a fee.
