Jakub Napierała, a second-year undergraduate student in the National Security program, stayed at the Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic) from March 1 to March 31, 2026, as a scholarship holder within the CEEPUS project carried out by the Border and Regional Studies Research Group.
“My one-month stay in the Czech Republic was a very valuable experience for me. It allowed me to significantly improve my English skills and become more confident in using the language. By delivering a lecture to a group of Czech students, I gained my first teaching experience.
Participating in the course “Geology and Geography of the Czech Republic” allowed me to broaden my knowledge of the country’s geology, hydrology, and religious geography. In turn, the lecture “Geoeconomics of Western European Countries” enabled me to better understand the region’s economic diversity as well as the relationships between geographical factors and the economic development of individual countries.
The city of Liberec has a lot to offer - you can admire its diverse architecture, watch a hockey game, visit museums, or go on a mountain hike and reach Ještěd, with its distinctive building at the summit. Another advantage is its proximity to Prague, which makes it a great option for a one-day trip.
The scholarship in Liberec helped me develop both academically and socially, and also gave me the opportunity to build new connections with both students and professors.” - Jakub Napierała
